Co-Owner DJ Outlaw Revealed

DJ Outlaw has recently been named the co owner of Legion of Rock so this week I interviewed him to get an even closer look at what is like to be a co-owner.This is his first time in SL being a club owner and he says that reaching this point is like reaching his ultimate goal. He started out just as a DJ in SL eight months ago. Moving from club to club, going from DJ, to Manager, to DJ manager, he then moved on and found Cleo and Legion of Rock. He worked as a DJ for Cleo for about two months before becoming a DJ Manager.

A month later she offered him the chance to be co-owner of Legion of Rock. Cleo said that she wanted a co-owner because she needed a partner she could trust to could help her run the club. Outlaw's pride and love for the club shines through and is obvious in everything he does.

He says the best part about being an owner of a club is that he feels his ideas and opinions are making a difference. Being a co-owner with Cleo, he says, is amazing because they both have a deep love of the club and the VIPs. They both see the staff and VIPs as family so they both have the same ideas about where the club is going.

Outlaw says the most challenging part about being an owner of a club is getting more staff. There are so many ways to put out there that you need DJs and Hosts. But the difficult part is getting people to come in and fill out an application- it just doesn't happen often enough. Finding new and inventive ways to find staff are low.

Overall being a co-owner of Legion of Rock is Outlaw's dream come true. Through all the challenges and joys he wouldn't have it any other way. As he said in the beginning of this interview with me- it's his dream come true. He loves working with Cleo and their family, but most of all partying with the VIPs. His favorite set he does during the week is Naked Thursdays where the party doesn't stop all day. He encourages everyone to check out the Facebook Page for the weekly events going on and to keep up to date about all the fun.

Staff Spotlight- Host Manager Traci Lectar

This week Legion of Rock is proud to give the staff spotlight on Host Manager Traci Lectar. I sat down with Traci this week and talked to her about what it's like to be a host manager and what makes her SL relationship stay so strong.

Traci began in SL a little over a year ago, but Legion of Rock is her first hosting job. She is partnered to Mac who you can also find at The Legion of Rock Club. She says they are very supportive of eachother and often bounce ideas off of one another. Mac has been working in clubs doing every job there is. She says that he is an amazing partner, and the best part is that they are best friends and are always honest with eachother. Traci says that's what keeps them strong.

When it comes to being a host she says she loves it because being a host is like a party with benefits. She sees and feels the family atmosphere in the staff at Legion of Rock Club and even sees the VIPs as part of the family.

When it comes to being a manager, Traci says she tries not to think about the 'boss' part of it because that's not how she sees herself. The friendships and staff relations going on at Legion of Rock are far from the cookie cutter 'business' atmosphere. Cleo and Outlaw have truly picked a staff that is bringing in more of  a family atmosphere. Hosting at the club allows Traci to "be around great people who I have come to care about."

When it comes to unruly VIPs though, Traci is ready for them. She tries to treat them with as much kindness as possible and with respect, but she says she has never really had a true problem with a VIP before.

The funniest thing Traci has ever encountered while hosting and working at Legion of Rock involved a dildo wacker! Traci has a dildo wacker to smack people with, one day while she had hers pulled out- a VIP found what she thought was one in her inventory. When it rezzed the VIP ended up using an actual SL dildo in the middle of the dance floor. Traci says the VIP couldn't teleport out fast enough. After the initial embarrassment, Traci talked with her about what happened reassuring her that things like that happen, and it's not a big deal. The VIP still comes to the club, and they look back on that moment and laugh often about it.

Traci has a true talent with VIPs that Cleo spotted and has enabled Traci to shine in her role as Host Manager. Traci loves her job and sees it the way many people in SL don't see it- as fun and not just a job. She shows us that the key to having a great job and never getting bored with it is to make sure you enjoy the job you do! She also reminds us that working in a club doesn't have to be a straight 'business' type thing. You can make the staff and atmosphere a close family atmosphere, and it will not only keep the staff loving their jobs, but also makes it a great place for VIPs. Traci says she is honored to be a part of the Legion of Rock and the family that they have ALL become!

Come by the club and see what it's all about! And don't forget to check out this week's poll at the top left of the window and let Legion of Rock know what you would most like to see in coming events!

Welcome to the Legion of Rock!!

Cleo Destiny- Owner of Legion of Rock
I sat down this week with the owners of Legion of Rock, Cleo Destiny and Outlaw Bludstone to ask them some questions and give us an insight into the club and themselves. When Cleo first started out in SL she became great friends with some owners of a club and was trained as a dancer. She then worked hard working at different clubs to host and then decided she wanted to create her own club. She said she wanted to make it the most popular place in Second Life.

Outlaw Bludstone-Owner of Legion of Rock
Outlaw started out in SL only a few months ago and shot to the top of many lists as a great DJ and Manager. He has worked closely with Cleo. As she says, "I have watched Outlaw closely as a DJ [and] he brings a good atmosphere to the club,he has a lot of good ideas. I needed someone I could trust also to work hard with me at my club so I asked outlaw if he'd like to be owner along side with me."

Coming up with the name Legion of Rock was a collaborative effort for Cleo. She went over names with her closest friends that would attract people to the club. They voted on the name, and she adds "not to mention I love rock!"
Think you can take on the bull? Come show us your strength!

When I asked Outlaw what drew him to Legion of Rock as an owner he said that he has longed for a club of his own, but lacked the capital to get one going. So when Cleo offered for him to be a co-owner he jumped at the chance.

I asked them both what they wanted out of the club at the same time, and they both said the same thing- they want their VIPs to walk away with love and a good feeling about the club. They want this club to be a place where people know they will have a great time. I think they are well on their way! Be sure to come by and grab your VIP tag if you don't have and be ready to dance, laugh and feel great!
